Nov. 6

Friday | 10:30 a.m. to noon | The Park Theater, Glens Falls

Get an inside look at historic Park Theater! Built in 1911, The Park Theater served as the first movie theater in Glens Falls, becoming a gathering place for residents to watch silent films and vaudeville shows until it closed in 1935. Glens Falls Post Co. (former publishers of The Post-Star) purchased the theater in 1937 and converted it into a printing plant. In 2014, local developer Elizabeth Miller, president of Miller Industrial Manufacturing, purchased the property for restoration. The Park Theater reopened in 2018 as a state-of-the-art performing and event space, with Doc鈥檚 Restaurant located downstairs. In 2022, Doc鈥檚 Restaurant closed its doors and the culinary team relocated across the street to Park & Elm.

The Park Theater now operates as a fully functioning event space perfect for weddings, conferences, concerts and more. In 2021, The Park Theater Foundation was established and presents seasonal arts programming at the theater, in addition to community and educational outreach initiatives.

Take a tour of the building with The Park Theater Foundation staff, learn about its history and enjoy lunch provided by Park Street Hospitality (sandwich/wrap with beverage, chips and dessert).

Please note: You will be contacted before the tour for your lunch order.
