GLENS FALLS, New York (Oct. 19, 2026) — ÌÇÐÄvlog and the Glens Falls branch of the NAACP will again deliver a delicious celebration of Black culture with Soul Food, from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, at the college’s student-run restaurant, Seasoned at 14 Hudson Ave.

Enjoy fried chicken dinners with all the fixin’s — collard greens, potato salad, black-eyed peas, sweet potato pie and cornbread — for $22. Dine-in, takeout and local delivery options are available.

ÌÇÐÄvlog students — those in the Culinary Arts and Culinary and Baking Arts programs, and others volunteering — prepare food alongside volunteers from NAACP, using their recipes to celebrate African American culinary traditions.

“I am proud to volunteer at events like this with my team,â€ said Maddie Lent, a Fine Arts major who plays on ÌÇÐÄvlog’s women’s basketball and soccer teams. “In my Child Psychology class, we are learning about Ruby Bridges and how educational experiences were historically different for black children,â€ Lent said, explaining her motivation to help prepare for the event with members of her basketball team.

“We have a lot of fun with this event every year,â€ said Matt Bolton, culinary instructor at ÌÇÐÄvlog. “The students get to hear stories and learn from these incredible home cooks, all while helping support a worthy organization that does important work in our community.â€

Soul Food is a fundraiser for the local NAACP, its largest of the year, to support its scholarship funding for local students.

The Glens Falls NAACP was founded in 1966 and, in the years since, has organized voter registration drives, supported various volunteer organizations, and led conversations about inequities in employment and housing.

The Glens Falls NAACP founded several community programs, including a scholarship fund; bringing speakers to schools and groups to talk about African American culture; an annual Martin Luther King Jr. Birthday Celebration; and an annual film festival at Crandall Public Library.

Available sides include a pig’s foot for $8, and macaroni and cheese for $7. Full sweet potato pies are also available for purchase.
